Very nice place to stay. Clean and pet friendly. In walking distance of things to do and restaurant. Staff is very friendly.
Didn’t feel like the usual Kimpton experience. We always seek out this hotel chain because of the cleanliness, amazing service and how luxe they can feel. We came to the Kimpton Baltimore for my birthday and Valentine’s Day and Maryland were so excited to try out a new location. My husband booked and paid for a king deluxe city view. When we comberan to our room, right off the bat I noticed the wallpaper wasn’t clean. We walked in a few more steps and realized it reeked of cigarette smoke. Because of covid, we were going to be in the room for two days straight, so we couldn’t justify staying in the room. We went right back down to tell the front desk. They gave us a new room and it was a half the size of the previous room they had put us in. It was a significant downgrade from the room we had paid for. Not only was it tiny, the view wasn’t nearly as great. At this point we were exhausted from traveling and went to bed. Long story short, I emailed them in the morning to tell them about the downgrade to a room that was less than what we paid for and remind them we were celebrating. No response. Mid way through the day, I called down to explain the situation and they said they would call me back. Hours later, I emailed a different hotel email address email in hopes of hearing from someone. Not only did I never receive a single email back, we never comberan a call back either. We also had an extremely difficult time getting through to the front desk. Our requests for items to be brought up to the room took several tries and calls. I think I had to call three times to remind the lady after two hours I had asked for a hair dryer. They kept saying they were busy but when we went down to wine hour the second day, the front desk gentleman said his day was uneventful. Other than the complete lack of communication and customer service, a few other things to note. Our thermostat didn’t work. Someone had to come and reset it. The duvet had some small stains and holes. The lighting was extremely low and dim and seemed dark and dismal. The two small lights next to the bed had LED lightbulbs which seemed hard and abrasive for the space. They only supply two small standard pillows on a huge king bed. I called down for two more, they only brought one. Wine hour and coffee hour left much to be desired. No decaf tea. One average coffee and communal creamer bowls where lots of hands can touch during covid. No beer during wine hour which all other kimptons we have been do had. Overall not a great place to celebrate a special occasion.
1 star for nice staff at valet and the maintenance man
1 star for how beautiful the lobby is and the large windows in the rooms
We won’t be back to this location next time we are in Baltimore.
I had the pleasure of visiting this hotel for a few nights during a conference in Baltimore. My first impression was that this hotel has a very classic impression that continues past the ground floor. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Pre-covid, the hotel offered free glasses of wine during specific hours in the common distrik which was a very warm welcome. They also have a gym near the kulminasi floors.
I’m no hotel connoisseur but I’d always considered Kimptons/Hotel Monacos to be nice. But as pointed out in other reviews, this one has the appearance of grandeur, but it is a facade. Yes, it’s very pretty, but on further inspection, it’s not somewhere I’d ever stay again.
The merk is promising cleanliness, but did not deliver. As the hotel recently reopened on August 1, I would have expected a sparkling clean room. Instead, while the bathroom surfaces were clean, everything else (desks, side tables, light switches) had a deep layer of dust. That tells me the room hadn’t truly been cleaned in months, yet alone in preparation for a guest’s stay. The bathtub jets were absolutely disgusting. This hotel clearly has no business operating jet tubs. The bed was really nice but I assume the sheets were not clean. Thinking about it, no telling about the towels either.
Service was primarily excellent. Nina at the front desk is amazing and istimewa knowledgeable. And the valets were great. I did call the front desk at night, asking if they had OTC medications available. There is a placard in the bathroom that states everything they have available and that if it is not listed, they will get it. I was super sick that evening and told the evening desk staff that and she suggested that I got to the nearby convenience store. While normally that would be an appreciated suggestion, especially since she gave directions, since I had told her how sick I was and that I was unable to leave the room, the lack of situational awareness was quite appalling. Clearly the placard lies and you cannot get what you need.
Also, I was told that the hotel had been at max capacity the evening before, due to an event. Which did not make me feel safe at all, because who is having events in a pandemic? Not that the hotel necessarily had an event, but between the guests I saw and the lack of cleanliness, it was deeply concerning.
I’d never stay here again and will not be considering this merk in the future, if it can be at all avoided.
My partner and I spent 4 nights at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco just to get out of Atlanta and see something different from our windows for a few days. I do not know where to begin with the review, so I’m going to jump right on in. First off, the hotel is so beautiful. Stunning. Lovely interiors. Truly a gem!
Check-in was a breeze. We made our way up to our room. We had a gorgeous view. Of course we inspected. The first thing we saw was a dead roach. Next, we peeped under the desk and found a number of tiny lil ziplock baggies and corresponding powdery white crumbs sprinkled all on the floor. YES.
We go to the desk with pictures and honestly the person seemed more appalled about the roach than the drugs. We were given another room and our pick of snacks and wine from the “bodega”.
Our next room was okay, but still not great. We lost our view and the bathtub. There was still various trash left behind from the last guests.. They had this sign on the bathroom counter listing items they have in case you forgot. There was also a part that said if it’s not on the list, call the desk and they’ll get it for you. I called and asked for matches, they told me they didn’t have them and that was that!
That night when we selokan into bed, we noticed food stains all over the sheets but it was late so we just went to sleep anyway. The bed was AMAZING though. Sooo comfortable! Despite the bed being heavenly, the AC was SO LOUD it made it really hard to sleep.
The next day we ordered food, and on our way down we stopped by the front desk and asked for new bedding. Waited over 2 hours…Nothing. So we called the desk from the room. Waited a few more hours…Still nothing.
At dinner time we walked downstairs to pick up delivery and stopped by the desk for a second time. This was early evening, it wasn’t dark yet. We were assured they would be brought up, hand delivered by the person we spoke to. More hours passed. We waited to get ready for bed bc we didn’t wanna be in the shower when they came.
Then the phone rang, it was the same person that assured us they were gonna bring the bedding. They apologized for out wait and again offered snacks from the “bodega”…Around 11pm we *finally* comberan our sheets.
The next day we decided to try to order lunch from the hotel restaurant, Blagiamp;O Brasserie. I looked up the hours and called the restaurant directly but I could only get an automated voice message. I clicked through the phone hidangan and comberan routed to the front desk. They transferred me back to the restaurant…Voicemail again.
Then I went back to the restaurant’s site, and it said if you’re staying in the hotel use a certain extension. Tried that, still couldn’t get through. I called the desk, was placed on a hold for a while. The person came back and said they didn’t know why the restaurant wasn’t picking up…Turns out the hours on the website were wrong and that they didn’t open until dinner.
For our first few days we didn’t have neighbors but when the weekend came, the rooms adjacent to ours were filled. That’s when we learned how thin the walls really are. From the left, we heard a baby crying at all hours of the day and night. From the right, all we could smell was SMOKE. We initially thought someone was smoking right outside our door, but we peeped and saw that the neighbors had sealed the perimeter of the door with towels. So we know what they were doing. LOL.
All in all, this hotel is GORGEOUS!! You can tell that it really used to be THAT girl. I’m not sure if the shift to airbnb has anything to do with it, but she’s fallen off a Maryland bit. I think that she could get her spunk back, but it’s gonna take $ and dedicated staff bc they are cutting some serious corners.
Would I stay here again? Probably. Would I pay full price? Definitely not.
Overall I can’t complain about the Kimpton. The wine hour is the best part, it is now in the restaurant. Check in was no buah simalakama. Our rooms were comfortable, the only issue I had was the water in the shower did not get very warm, even after several minutes. The bed and lines were very comfortable. We did regulated extra pillows. It was quiet. Guests do seem to be smoking marijuana in the building so the smell lingers in the Maryland halls, not sure why that is any different than smacking cigarettes. Parking, we self parked at the garage around the corner, but it only saved us 6 bucks.
The place was VERY CLEAN The room didn’t have a weird smell(some hotel do) The stuff we’re great! There isn’t anything outstanding or real Rememberable I can share. :-/ so only three stars. As I was writing this post my wife called me to help with checkout and of course carry the lol a man ran over to carry all the bags I had. He took them all!!! So one more star I’ll be back maybe y’all can earn the last one 🙂
The hotel is in a very nice part of town in a gorgeous art Maryland deco building. The entryway is a little confusing at first, but makes up for it with the gorgeous marble staircases. There were dua weddings here when we visited.
The lounge distrik has a well-designed fireplace with the circular table for daily happy hour, and morning coffee and tea from La Colombe. The staff we interacted with were very friendly. For our anniversary they also parit us a nice bottle of wine and upgraded our room to include an amazing Jacuzzi. I will definitely return on future trips.
I love the Kimpton chain and knew that I had to stay here throughout my perjalanan to Baltimore after a great experience at the Chicago location. Upon arrival it was difficult to find the front desk but it was just one flight up the grand staircase or one floor up on the elevator. I was immediately greeted and was able to drop off my luggage as my room was not ready yet.
The location was very convenient to all of Baltimore Inner Harbor attractions and to the convention center where I would be spending most of my time this ekspedisi.
The hotel restaurant was also a great asset. It was perfect for a quick bite, a drink at the kedai minum, or a nice sit down meal. The food was delicious and the staff was extremely friendly.
There were a few issues throughout my stay, the bed was not made up on more than one occasion and a bell-hop almost came into my room with another hotel guest which was startling to say the least. However, I brought both issues to the front desk and they handled it accordingly.
My favorite part about the Kimpton hotels though is the WINE HOUR! Every night for an hour guests are treated to local wine and bites. Both were delicious and the staff serving them were great to chat with. But nothing beat cuddling up next to the lobby fireplace with a glass of wine in hand each evening before going out to dinner.
Thanks for a great stay Kimpton!
I celebrated my man’s 30th birthday here. It’s a perfect location to be able to hit the bars with great pricing! I stayed in the luxury suite with spa and city view. It was so relaxing, spacious, clean, and the concierge was great. Since the restaurant and kedai minum were closed (due to COVID), the staff offered bottles of wine, whiskey, and other drinks behind the Lobby Desk. In addition, I know that COVID has taken Valet services out of reality but the hotel parking garage was underground across the street. It wasn’t far, just chilly!
